Rash That Feels And Looks Like A Sunburn

Diseases lack of vitamins and minerals, even in industrialized countries like the United States, were relatively common before the Second World War.
Today, with the strengthening of the food chain and the widespread use of multivitamins, the classical vitamin deficiency diseases such as scurvy and rickets, are rare, except in cases of:
  • particular disease states;
  • effects of drugs on vitamin
  • extreme malnutrition due to poverty.

On a global basis, vitamin deficiencies occur still in many large countries such as India and China, in both rural and urban populations.
This can be classified as non-optimal intake of some vitamins such as vitamin D in areas of low-sun exposure, areas of newly discovered and important vitamin deficiency, in which ' Integration is recommended by the specifications.

Determination of the RDA levels

The recommended daily allowance (RDA) is usually revised every 10 years at the National Academy of Sciences (Food and Nutrition Board) to guide healthy individuals and to help in the design of national programs of nutrition for infant feeding and nutrition in schools.
RDA levels are normally set above the threshold required to prevent deficiency diseases, but in some cases the levels are lower than some experts would like to see the disease prevention. In fact, in 1980, the guidelines were not issued because of a philosophical difference of opinion among experienced members of the group. The decision revolved around the fact that the RDA should be increased to encourage the intake of vitamin A (carotenoid) and vitamin C rich foods such as fruits and vegetables.
The dispute was finally resolved with the release of the 1989, which brought back to the original aim, to prevent nutritional deficiency states through public policy recommendations.

fat-soluble vitamins

Vitamins A and D are closely related to steroid hormones and act to induce the synthesis of specific proteins and maintaining normal cell functions.
Rare deficiencies of vitamin A can cause night blindness and susceptibility to mumps infection.
vitamin D deficiency causes a bone disease called rickets, while the optimal intake of vitamin D was correlated with the prevention of various forms of cancer.
Vitamin E contains a family of eight compounds can be found in the walls of plant cells where they act as antioxidants. hard to find vitamin E in humans, but this family has shown interesting functions in the body beyond antioxidant effect.
Vitamin "K" comes from the German word "koagulation. It refers to blood clotting, because it is essential for the functioning of several proteins involved in blood clotting.

water-soluble vitamins

Unlike of fat soluble vitamins, which can be stored after a single administration for long periods of time, the water soluble vitamins must be supplied through foods and supplements on a regular basis in order to avoid shortages.
The industrialized societies have fewer cases of water-soluble vitamin deficiency, except in people homeless or alcoholics.
The recent increase in obesity surgery, which leads to malabsorption of vitamin B12 bypassing the stomach, has created a new group of people at risk of vitamin deficiency.
The strict vegans, people with food allergies and raw food enthusiasts can also develop deficiencies in vitamins if their choices of food are reduced significantly.
